UNITED KINGDOM 19th July 2010
London-based exotic coffees importer Sea Island Coffee in early July announced that it was in partnership with Jacqui Christian to market coffee from Pitcairn Island, one of the most remote places on earth.

The South Pacific island, which is the last remaining British overseas territory in the region, has only 50 inhabitants, and is best known as the home of the descendants of the mutineers, led by Fletcher Christian, from the famous HMS Bounty in the late 18th century.
The coffee grows wild on the volcanic soil of the island, Guy Wilmot of Sea Island Coffee reports, and is harvested by Jacqui Christian only in very small quantities. The island, which has neither a harbour nor an airstrip, is accessible only by tender from visiting ships.
The coffee's taste is described as "redolent of hazelnuts and tobacco, with a pleasing, slightly salty, acidity and a long, clean, caramel aftertaste."
