SCAE Roasters Forum offers hands-on expertise at Caffè Culture

UNITED KINGDOM 17th June 2010

The SCAE is offering a day-long Roasters Forum, on the theme of Sustainability, on June 25 at the London Event at Caffè Culture at Kensington Olympia, forum coordinator Filip Åkerblom reports.

The Forum begins at 9:00am, and includes a morning session given by Stefan Graack of Neuhaus Neotec on "The Colour of your Coffee", during which the lightness and darkness of roasts will be probed and you will be able to see right at the roaster how sensitive taste is to slight variations in roast colour.

After lunch comes a session entitled "The Big Oxygen Test", looking at the effects of oxygen on roasting and on roasted coffee.

Then, a session entitled "The Moisture of your Coffee"  will examine in-depth the role of moisture in coffee roasting. How does moisture affect your roast profile, and how much does it affect coffee even when it is being brewed? The session will have the answers, with hands-on, practical examples, and participants will be testing both green and roasted coffees for moisture levels.

The participant fee for this day-long forum on serious roasting issues and their practical solutions is €150, and it will take place in the Roasting Workshop room at Caffè Culture. Those interested in taking part should contact the SCAE Secretariat at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it as soon as possible.
