The Campeonato España Café 2010 (the Spanish Coffee Championship) held at the Hotel Boston in Zaragoza in early May drew great praise, as well as finding two champions for the London World Championships, Birgit Steyrer of the Spanish SCAE chapter reports.

After his win at the Spanish Championship, barista Javier Garcia Funez will once again be representing Spain at the World Barista Championship. The 2009 winner as well, Funez passed runner-up Jose Manuel Portela, and in third place, Francisco Javier Iglesias. (The three winners are pictured).

The other finalists in the Barista Championship were Juan Jose Barquilla, in fourth place, Honorio Garcia (fifth) and Francisco Javier Pardo in sixth place.

Going to the World Cup Tasters Championship will be Sofía Prieto Lestao, who beat Marisa Baqué, the runner up, and third place Kim Ossenblock in the Spanish Cupping Championship.
