Best of the Croatian baristas chosen in fourth championship
CROATIA 5th May 2010
For the fourth time, baristas from all over Croatia competed in late April for the title of best in the country, and showed their skills in the preparation of espresso and speciality coffee during the Croatian Barista Championship, National Coordinator Romeo Lambaša reports.
Our sponsor, the Ministry of Tourism, has recognised this event as a contribution to the development of Croatian tourism, especially given the fact that it is an important segment in the hospitality industry.
Peral Company, the organiser of the Barista Championship, has confirmed the national champion, who will represent Croatia at the World Barista Championship in London in June.
The winner was Matija Hrkač, from Zagreb (pictured); second place was taken by Zoran Trkulja from Šibenik, and Tomislav Stančić, also from Šibenik, came third.
The championship had an international character, because of our sponsors—Zagreb Fair, Franck, Peral, Arcotel and Dukat, as well as having the Italian CMA Astoria machines and German Mahlkönig grinders, and being assisted by domestic judges and foreign judges who came from Italy and Slovenia.
