NEW SCAE BOARD ELECTED

Voting for the new Board of Directors of SCAE closed on 30th April and the new board was announced on 4th May. The successful candidates were Lina Chiodo, Marc Pierre Dietrich, Cosimo Libardo, Ludovic Maillard, Luigi Morello, Grant Rattray, Pauline Sherwood, Wolfram Sorg, Paul Stack and Heinz Trachsel. They are joined by Marc Kaeppeli, the current President, who was re-elected automatically and Executive Director David Veal. The two year term of the new board starts at the AGM on
June 15th

New SCAE board elections – Starts 3rd April

Whilst nominations have now closed for SCAE's Board of Directors, voting opens for the elections on Tuesday 3rd April and closes on Monday 30th April.

Members' ballot forms will be sent out by email on Tuesday 3rd April, if you do not receive yours by Wednesday 4th April, please let us know.

Please note: Votes will only be counted from fully paid up members, so if you have not renewed your membership you will need to do so first.

This is your chance to have a say in the future of SCAE.

Big week for Coffee Diploma System

The Coffee Diploma System reached two notable milestones this week. Firstly we certified our 200th Authorised Trainer (AST) as Manu Demets from Rombouts in Belgium, Yong-Gu Bae from Korea and Paul Ungureanu from Romania were licensed to certify Coffee Diploma modules on behalf of SCAE.

We also issued our 2,000th Coffee Diploma certificate, the deserving recipient being Eddy Righi of Pascucci in Italy who passed Green Coffee Level 1. Well Done and Congratulations to you all!

SCAE announces first recipients of Coffee Diploma

After only six months since the inception of the SCAE Coffee Diploma System, SCAE is pleased to announce the first recipients of the SCAE Coffee Diploma as Fotis Lefas and Sofia Bikouvaraki of Coffee Lovers Editors & Trainers in Greece. Fotis and Sofia were the first to earn 100 credits each, amassed from passing a selection of Level 1 and Level 2 Coffee Diploma courses.

Korean Chapter Celebrates - 29 new AST's and 25 new Barista Certifiers

Following a very successful training week for Authorised SCAE Trainers (AST’s) at SCAE HQ in which 22 trainers attended including many Koreans. Last week, SCAE sent a team over to Seoul to conduct further training.

Hosted by Steven Kil of Speciality Coffee Appraises Institute of Asia. the delegation was lead by David Veal, SCAE’s Executive Director, and included Annemarie Tiemes (Education Coordinator), Alf Kramer, David Locker, and Filip Akerblom. 25 Trainers were authorised, with many certifying in Grinding and Brewing, Green Coffee and Sensory, Roasting and Barista skills.

World Coffee Events announces official sponsors for 2012-2014 competitions

The official sponsors of World Coffee Events competitions taking place from 2012 through 2014 were announced in Milan in late October.

Once every three years, leading commercial coffee equipment suppliers vie for the prestigious opportunity to have products featured as the official tools used by competitors of World Coffee Events’ competitions, including the World Barista Championship

All candidates considered for equipment sponsorship must meet exacting technical standards set and tested by the organisation, but only one supplier from each category may prevail as the official sponsor.
