Trademarks sought for Limu and Nekempt varieties

Ethiopian authorities are moving to add the Limu and Nekempt coffee varieties to the list of registered trademarked products, after meetings with roasters and distributors.

Speaking in mid-March, a spokesperson for the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office said that his organisation is aiming to add the two varieties to the list of Ethiopian coffees already trademarked, local reports said.

Harar, Yiirgachefe and Sidama are the Ethiopian varieties that are already registered worldwide among coffee roasters and distributors that are selling these coffees.
