Rasmussen of Denmark becomes World Champion Cup Taster

Denmark’s Casper Engel Rasmussen showed his amazing palate for fine coffees by becoming World Cup Tasters Champion in the competition held at the SCAE’s Wonderful Coffee event in Copenhagen in late June.

The exciting and tension-filled contest, which brings together the world’s best coffee cuppers for a contest held against the clock, drew a large crowd at the Copenhagen show, and also showed the prowess of second place Jorge Escobar of El Salvador, who came second, and of Anne Nordstrom of Sweden, the third prize winner.

The rest of the seven finalists in the competition were Marta Pilgli of Estonia, Rasmus Helgebostad of Norway, James Hoffman of the UK and from the USA, Edwin Martinez.

The contestants were tasting some of the finest coffees in the world, identified after the competition and available for all of the audience members to try.
