10th January 2008
International coffee science body ASIC is planning its 2008 bi-annual conference in Campinas, São Paulo state, for September 14-19, the association said in early January.
The 22nd ASIC Conference, which will cover worldwide research on coffee, is to be held at the Royal Palm Plaza Hotel in Campinas, and this edition will focus on the themes of coffee and health, and on trends in the consumption and science of coffee, according to ASIC.
The meting will also address coffee chemistry, processing, breeding and agronomy, and it will include social and cultural programmes and visits to both the city’s Agronomic Institute as well as to Fazenda Tozan, a 200-year-old coffee farm.
Pre- and post-conference tours will also be available, ASIC said, and there will be an accompanying exhibition and opportunities for sponsorship.
More details are available on ASIC’s website, www.asic-cafe.org.
