New Product of the Show Awards Winners
A dripping robot to drip coffee on a pre-settled programme, cacao tea made by the most remote and smallest bean to chocolate bar factory, a new environmentally friendly black paper coffee bag, a brand new milk system delivering barista level foam quality, an advanced press-type coffee brewer and a speciality roaster designed to be suitable for small and high-quality production were just some of the new innovations that were launched in the last year and entered into the New Product of the Show Awards for 2016.

The Dublin World of Coffee New Product of the Show Awards winners are:
Best New Professional Espresso Machine
Slayer Steam and a special mention goes to Gruppo Cimbali SPA for the Faema E71
The jury said: ‘The steam system demonstrates the ability to enhance consumer experience of the final product in the cup.
Best New Professional Small Equipment
Milk Mate by La Cultura del Caffe
The jury said: ‘The Milk Mate provides a compact, practical solution that will improve productivity, speed of service and reduce waste.
Best New Food/Non-Coffee Beverage
Hazel Mountain Cacao Tea with a special mention to Coffee Cherry from Mare Terra Green Coffee
The jury said: ‘This tea, a by-product of the cocoa process, provides a satisfying beverage that is not only sustainable but with a distinctive flavor and aroma in the cup.’
Best New Roasters Product
Coffee-tech Engineering Ltd with the Silon ZR-7
The jury said: ‘A well designed mini roaster that would complement a shop environment and enable a barista approach to roasting.’
Best New Consumer Product
Beans Corp Ltd with the Cafflano Kompact
The jury said: ‘A great, compact coffee brewer displaying high levels of innovation to enable consumers to drink great coffee on-the-move.
Best New IT & Technology Innovation
Artisan Coffee Group Ltd with the Open Cup
The jury said: ‘An easy to use, labour saving software package that enables multiple users to aggregate sensory data in a simple to use format.
Best New Packaging
Ahlstrom with the Green Capsule Top Lid
The jury said: ‘It has the potential to deliver significant environmental benefits in the growth area of single-serve capsule coffee.’
“The New Product of the Show Awards are one of the most eagerly anticipated features at World of Coffee and this year’s competition has proved yet again that innovation is ripe in the coffee and foodservice sectors. At the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe, we are dedicated to inspiring excellence and we are thrilled to honour innovation at World of Coffee each year,” commented David Veal, Executive Director, SCAE.
This year’s winners were selected by an independent panel of coffee and hospitality experts following an intensive judging process, combining written submissions and videos, ‘Dragons’ Den’-style presentations to the jury, and product demonstrations at the event. The judges were:

- Jonathan Morris, Professor of Modern History, University of Hertfordshire and author of coffee related publications
- Kris Gibson, National Service Manager Operations, WMF Group
- Ruth Hegarty, Head of Community for Chef Network and owner of egg&chicken food projects
- Katie Gilroy, food writer and owner of Urbun Café and Buckle Up
