Education: What We Offer

alt   1. Our SCAE Authorised trainers offer local education in local languages in many countries, at their premises or yours. Discover the courses that suit your own exact requirements.

   2. The SCAE's annual Conference and Exhibition (like the SCAE Event at Caffè Culture in London 2010) is packed with workshops and presentations given by the top experts in the speciality coffee movement. Many are world champions in coffee or celebrities in their field. Meet them face to face.

   3. The SCAE's national chapters organise local events that combine competitions with education--at the same time or separately. These are available near to you in your own language.

   4. The SCAE's magazine Café Europa is an up-to-date and comprehensive educational programme in its own right. Using your membership password, you have access to everything that has been written in any issue, and members get the magazine first to keep up with the latest trends.

   5. The SCAE's team of authorised certifiers will test and certify your barista skills on three different levels. This is the most respected international barista certification programme, and over 1,000 baristas around the world have passed the practical, written and oral tests. You can also enter the very comprehensive nine-month SCAE Master Barista programme.

   6. The SCAE Gold Cup programme combines education and certification for filter brewing. We train and authorise SCAE Brewmasters, who can use the training and recognition in their own businesses or in the field.

7. The SCAE website, www.scae.com, will update you on all the important news in the SCAE and in the speciality sector. It will also report from educational events, and, with your membership password, allow access to an archive of educational and reference material.

   8. The SCAE membership database, which is open to members only, allows you to connect with and meet some of the most experienced members in the speciality coffee community.

   9. The SCAE will help you navigate social networks like Facebook, YouTube, blogs, podcasts and Twitters, to get the best out of these forums for enthusiastic personal opinions.

alt10. Many of the tools you will need to build your skills are available from the SCAE resource centre. The Shop offers a wide range of products, which can be ordered online at specially discounted member rates.

  11. The market is flooded with coffee books, but the SCAE Librarian chooses the best to present and recommend, offering a guide to the best information available.

  12. Your SCAE membership comes with free trial subscriptions and specially discounted rates for some of the most respected coffee trade magazines and websites.

  13. In a growing speciality coffee world, the definitions, explanations and interpretations are growing too. The new SCAE coffee encyclopedia offers a way through the jargon of current trends, and it will build into an invaluable guide.

You can pick and choose from all these educational offerings by simply joining the SCAE. Our educational programmes make up our greatest membership benefit. Join us and share the advantages!
