SCAE signs deal for World of Coffee, Rimini 2014

In Milan on 7th May David Veal, Executive Director of SCAE and Lorenzo Cagnoni, President of RiminiFiera signed the contract which will take the 2014 World of Coffee event to the beautiful Adriatic city of Rimini, on 9th – 12th June.

This will be only the second time that World of Coffee will have come to Italy and there is already a great deal of excitement from the Italian chapter. ‘We are determined to make this the best World of Coffee event ever’ said Luigi Morello of La Cimbali and Chairman of the Events  committee. Luigi enthuses,’ We may even get our first Italian World Barista Champion!’

The World Barista Championship and World Roasters Cup will be amongst the many features of the event which is expected to be by far the biggest World of Coffee to date. In a unique first, SCAE and RiminiFiera will both jointly promote the event to the Italian coffee, ice cream and bakery markets and to the international worldwide audience.

Education

SCAE is committed to providing a vocational education programme that is designed in modules to fit in around work and everyday life. The SCAE Coffee Diploma System (CDS) provides international training in: Coffee Introduction, Green Coffee, Roasting, Sensory and Cup Tasting, Grinding and Brewing, and Barista Skills. Courses offer something for everyone from novice to advanced professional, each provides certification and the credits go towards achieving the SCAE Coffee Diploma.

SCAE gold cup programmeThe Gold Cup Programme was established to improve the standard of filter coffee consumed in the marketplace. Through research an internationally respected set of guidelines has been established for brewing filter coffee this includes: minimum standards for coffee to water ratio, brewing temperature and holding time, and optimum standards for coffee extraction and strength.
